When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, let the hand of Al-Anon and Alateen always be there, and Let it Begin With Me.

Al-Anon and Alateen are for people who have been affected by someone else's drinking. Alateen is for our younger members, aged 7-19, only. We do, however, have 2 certified adults (called Alateen sponsors) in the room in each Alateen meeting. Please click here for a full description of how our program works.

District 19 (Rappahannock District) encompasses Fredericksburg, VA and its surrounding counties. We have a meeting available at least once every day. If you would like to find a meeting, please use the Find A Meeting option on the menu above. We are here to help you. If you would like more information before going to a meeting please feel free to contact ANY of our District Officers and they will be glad to help.

Monday 8pm, College Heights - Group Conscience -- 03/12/2014

Monday night group @ 8pm, College Heights is having a group conscience on Monday March 24 about group finances. If you ever attend this meeting please consider attending and having your voice heard during the group conscience.

A group conscience is the process during which a group addresses concerns within the group. Every member has an equal voice and each attending member has one vote. All decisions are attempted to be reached by unanimity whenver possible, and by majority when not possible. At the end of the group conscience what is decided by the group is the action that will be performed. Sometimes, this also means taking no action.

Spring into Recovery -- 02/11/2014

It's time again for our bi-annual pot luck dinner. The dinner itself is on Saturday March 22nd from 4-7pm, and the theme is "Spring into Recovery". Our speaker will be Pegeen E. As usual we will have our 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction (if you don't know what these are, ask a GR or use the comments form). The Alateens will also have a donation based bake sale. The District asks that all desserts brought go on the bake sale table, to keep it simple.

Tickets are $5/ea or $20 for a family of 4 or more. Tickets can be bought at the door or from your group's GR. If you bring your ticket with you, you can trade it at the door for either one (1) 50/50 raffle entry OR one (1) Chinese auction ticket. We hope to see you there!

Newsletter Update -- 12/21/2013

Good Afternoon! District 19 publishes a monthly newsletter (and back issues can be found here) with a new topic each month. To start the new year, and a new volume of newsletters, we would like to ask members of the Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups for personal experience, strength, and hope. We are looking for stories of approximately 3-5 paragraphs, on what you get most out of Al-Anon in addition to topic shares. There is no specific topic, and we will publish one per month. You may find the link on the left side-bar or here .
